If you are going to walk around Sanibel at night, possibly it’s best you carry a flashlight. We learned this lesson the hard way.
When we initial purchased our vacation rental condo on Sanibel Island, we would arrive late in the day very stiff and sore from travel to the Island.
Before unpacking, eating, or anything else, we would venture forth on the beach path and go for a long walk to work out the kinks.
We are accustomed to long walks, taking 5 to 6 mile jaunts almost each day at our home in New Jersey.
And walking on Sanibel is surely less arduous given how flat the terrain is.
But walking in the pitch black is a dissimilar story altogether.
On one peculiar day of arrival, we started out our walk on the beach at dusk, always a finelooking time and experience with the splendor of the orange sky and setting sun. The breeze off the Gulf was perfect, reviving our spirits and reminding us again how fortunate we were to have found the island, and the perfective place to buy a vacation home.
But after a mile or two on the sandy surface, we decisive to head inland and that was the flaw in our strategy, having no idea where we were.
Because the Island does not concede street lights due to not wanting to confuse turtle hatchlings with diversionary light roots (hey guys, the sea is here not there!), the velvet blackness of the island at night is only interrupted by the moon and the stars. None rather bright sufficient to be a guiding light.
So we walked and we walked, often in circles, past bayous and bays and with me keeping my breath the whole way, convinced that we would encounter a sleeping alligator who would no doubt see me as a very commodious midnight snack.
Of course, there were no alligators around, in all probability all sound asleep dreaming of fresh fish for breakfast.
But the walk lasted 8 long miles and my fear of an alligator encounter was so severe that we arrived back at Blind Pass Condominiums with my body as rigid as it was at the start.
A hot bath and hot cup of tea and I was cured, but I did learn my lesson.

Just plain AWESOME ! By Kayo I have been using this watch/footpod/HR monitor now for when it comes to 6 months and I utterly love it. It is like having a coach. I am a somewhat new runner and finished a half marathon this past spring and loved it. I decisive to get more severe with regards to my training and run a fall marathon. The longer runs were genuinely a pain because I’d have to get in my car and drive the route each time….and then do not forget them as I ran . And of course if an unpredicted problem came up (angry dog, distrustful person, etc) I couldn’t in truth deviate without blowing the run and not knowing how far I’d gone . And also……my paces were off. I was running my recovery runs and easy runs WAY too fast. And then at the time I was using an old treadmill that was exclusively off pace, so my more quickly runs—well, who knows how consistent they were. I necessitated aid !
And I got it. Everything fell exclusively into place after getting the watch. It fundamentally sets ITSELF up,too. So easy to use. The Garmin website is awesome. I perceive they had bugs at first, but I have ran into none of that. I may look at a run and see my heart rate and pace on a graph. I may also see reports on mileage, etc. And the capacity to see cadence per mile is cool, too. I have learned so much by having all this data. It has made me a much better runner. I pay attention to heart rate now, too.
And of course it is terrifi to be capable to track my distance and pace as I run outdoors. I may just take whatsoever direction I want now….I feel wholly free and spontaneous out there. And I use it on the treadmill, too. Way more exact than the treadmill as far as pace is concerned. I also run in a lot of trees, which is why I obviated the GPS version. The footpod works everyplace and GPS will lose way points in heavy trees or in a city with tall buildings.
It coached me to a 4:14:01 firstborn marathon finish this past October. It is in truth exact and I have never calibrated it. Although I plan to go to an indoor track this week and do that this week before I start out training gravely again (I wore it in the marathon and it tracked the the distance as 26.58—not bad over that a heap of miles with no further and added calibration, but still…..).
I highly commend this product to any individual who would like to be capable to monitor their training. It is all they say and a lot more. I plan to undertake to qualify for Boston this spring and I know my probabilities are much bettered with my Garmin FR60 (yes, all my friends are unquestionably tired of hearing how much I love the watch!).

Garmin FR60 HRM By James A. Cuccinello Awsome product for new runners. Purchased for wife’s birthday(I am a romantic at heart). She is far from tech savvy as am I but basic functions simple sufficient to employ without delving too deeply in manual. Also purchased the seperate foot pod that provides more elaborated data and feedback on runs. As time goes by I may see her utilizing more of the functions on the watch and the internetlocation but for now observing her results after a run give her the motivation to get back out for the next time. The Lilac color gives product more of a effeminate flavor as opposed to a slimmed down man’s watch.

Finally a good fitness watch for petite women! By Didi CarpeDiem I just received my FR60, and my basi impression is that I love this product. I’ve had to wait for it for five months because it was not on the market as yet; however, on the up side this provided me with a substantial discount, so I have no complaint in this regard. I have had much difficultness finding a good fitness watch that would fit my little wrist. The FR60 fits nicely without being bulky. Compared to my Mio Petite, the heart rate display is much having little impact to retrieve and most reliable, characters displayed are more comfortable to read, and buttons are more ergonomic. The main divergence is that Mio Petite had no chest strap, and the dual pressure button system was rather awkward and unreliable. The lavender color on the FR60 is nice and discrete — thanks, however, for not making it a hot pink or orange! On the down side, the product is so new that it is not yet supported by the Web site. This deadline is a huge failure on the portion of Garmin!!! Then tech help is only open at sure hours for the duration of the week, and there are no Q&As for FR60 as yet on the Web site. Once I manage to have access to my data online, I intend to order the foot pod, which will have to be a natural add-on to this product. Despite my introductory frustrations, I suppose to actually take pleasure in this watch and I highly commend it to any active woman with petite wrists.
