You may think at the time of deliverance that this is it-never again! But, once you’ve got the baby smell, the giggles and the smiles, you may change your mind. You have to be in a position to limit your motion for the initial week or so after the surgery to reduce swelling, prevent bleeding and reopening the incision. * Listen to the counsel of your doctor. Surgeons vary on how long to wait. Some say six weeks is sufficient while others won’t do it until after six months. So, concede your ObGyn to valuate your condition as well as a plastic surgeon. It is likely a case by case basis since a great deal of women heal quicker than others. The point is not to rush the procedure, but if after three months you are healed and feel good, then the time is in all likelihood right. Once you feel good sufficient to undergo surgery, choose the right surgeon for the job. He ought to be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons and licensed to exercise in your state. Be very clear in regards to the results you’d like to see and, after assessing abdominal area, he may tell you if your expected values are realistic. I’d still ask a doctor. Call his office… maybe they can refer you to a physician that you can ask, or maybe they can ask for you… or maybe there’s a nurse on staff…
Good luck!
Susana
you should probably see a doctor before going through with exercise. there could still be some internal healing that needs to be done. i would consult a doctor before exercising.
Deirdre
well u dont have to c that doc..u can go to n hospital and let them know about ur surgery and tell that that u want to exercise, and they will tell u when u can start.
but like u said ur stitches “still” dissolving…id wait a lil more..
Enrique
Call the doctors office. He will have someone covering for him or the office will be able to answer the question.
Cecelia
I would wait a full month to make sure you do not pull or tear anything
Elton
Abdominal and 2 weeks…I would say wait.
Women that have C-Sections are told to wait at least 6 weeks. The muscles need time to heal or you could get a hernia. Just because the stitches are gone, doesn’t mean you are completely healed.
Harland
It really depends how serious the surgery was. It doesn’t sound like you had major abdominal surgery.
But I would call your surgeon’s office. If for some reason you can’t call, contact your family doctor.
Marion
your doctor should have given you someone to follow up with
Johnathan
Start walking around. They usually have you do that right after surgery or if it was major they have you walk around the day after. You should call your doctor and ask about when you should start any other type of exercises though.
