When the warm weather hits it seems so too does the preprogrammed desire for males (and females for that matter) to grab some sort of alcoholic beverage to quench the thirst. “There’s not one thing like a cold beer on a warm Summer day” is what you’ll listen from most guys as they knock back another frosty. But what is this doing to your muscle building and fat loss efforts? Is it actually preventing you from having a six pack? Well…you know the kind I mean. The one you can’t buy at the package store!

I figured that I get this question so ofttimes that it was worth my honest, face the facts answer. But before we get started, put down the bottles. For the safety of the author here, I don’t want you to get any ideas in regards to throwing them at me if you don’t like what you read! Ok. Let’s break the lid open on this hot topic of alcohol and working out and find out if they actually may go together like gin and tonic…or must be viewed more like oil and water.

I think any reasonable discussion of this will have to in truth get started with primary determining what your goals are…because really, that’s going to determine almost everything. If you want to invent the body of a strong man competitor, night club bouncer, or person that is affectionately known as “tank” or “big man” then mixing in a good deal of daily alcohol consumption is not going to ruin the “look” you’re going for. It may still limit the amount of muscle you may build (and I’ll explain that later) but it’s not going to in truth matter that you don’t have a six pack…since you’ve already identified by that body type, that you’re more in love with the aluminum version rather of the abs of steel.

If on the other hand, like a lot of guys…you are hoping to not only put on muscle but likewise get ripped and look like you could be on the cover of a magazine (or at least adored by the ladies as if you WERE on the cover of a fitness magazine!), then all bets are off. Even just those “few” beers or drinks at the on a weekly basis Summer picnic, or night out with the boys, etc will in the long run add up to quickly make any progress you were making in your ab visibility decrease rapidly like a flea in a kennel! There plainly isn’t much room for error when getting ripped is your goal. Wait…let me rephrase that. Getting ripped with regularity will unquestionably NOT help you to get a ripped body! Got it now? Good.

But why you ask? The answer is in truth based in how the alcohol does it’s thing that actually makes it more than just a calorie crusher. But lets start out there. The fact that alcohol (be it beer, wine, mixed drinks etc) are all ingestible as liquid calories make them fantastically overlooked as potential belly busters. We for the most part associate our degree of being overweight by the amount of feed that we eat. Well, your alcohol is food…just pureed if you will! A mix of hops, malt, barley, etc all mashed up into this nice little commodious mixture that goes down oh so easy! BUT…calories are still calories and if you have sufficient of them, your belly is going to show it.

The second factor is that, lets face it….most of the time when you’re reaching for the suds you’re closely never eating healthful at the same time. French fries, chips, dips, nuts, pizza, and burgers (to name just a few) are the likely compliment to your “meal” of beer! These are plainly not muscle flexing friendly selections and it goes without too much more comprehensible statement that a steady habit of this one-two combo won’t be etching in your abs any time soon.

The third element is actually a physiological one…but THE biggest problem with alcohol when you’re attempting to either get without doubt or question specified muscle (or even build muscle at all!) and it has to do with the fact that alcohol is a dehydrator. As a diuretic, it will in truth dehydrate your muscles rapidly and without delay than a raisin in the Sahara Desert! The ironic share of it all is….the more you drink, the thirstier you become so you drink more and the vicious cycle continues! As a great deal of of you who drink far too little water (remember I always say at least half of your bodyweight in ounces a day!) could attest, a dehydrated muscle is a little muscle! Think of that raisin. If it only had water it’d be a grape for crying out loud. They may fit a whole bunch of raisins in a box, but could in all likelihood only cram 2-3 grapes in the same box if lucky!

It goes even deeper. Besides the fact that the muscle itself is littler when dehydrated, it’s likewise less active. Just as you would feel sluggish and ready to pass out without water, so to would your muscles. They won’t fire correctly (causing your workouts to be nonproductive) they won’t burn fat expeditiously (causing you to start out tardily storing more and more fat as a result) and they won’t grow in the long run (like the plant that doesn’t get the sun in the back corner of the garden). That is one strong three pronged punch to your gut…that in the long run is going to see to it that you never get rid of yours!

So what are your choices if you determine that your goals lie someplace in the middle of getting the perfective six pack or helping your buddies drink one? Well, in this case I would suggest that you tell apart how you hold you’re liquor. No I’m not talking when it comes to the way you put it in your hand. I mean, what type of drinker are you? If you have a tendency to drink lots of beer at one time, then it might be wiser to stick to a microbrew or thicker beer. Lite beers (while having less calories) are often times drank in much higher quantities and hence the “lite” becomes a nonfactor after the 5th beer! On the other hand, a thick microbrew or darker beer might be filling at 1-2 beers and consequently result in a better outcome in the long run. Finally, if mixed drinks are your thing….just do not forget to switch in a diet version of your soda to save your six pack aspirations considerably! Two rum and diets may have just more or less more calories than are in one regular beer. So choose accordingly!

Either way, the real truth is that you have to define what is most indispensable to you. If you genuinely want to get the six pack abs that you’ve dreamed in regards to for a long time, then you merely have to in general refrain from sure indulgences….and alcohol is one of them. I’m not saying that’s easy, but then again if it was, everyone would have them. Decide what drives you and then make a plan that will help you get to that goal. Whatever it is, when you reach it, it will be worth the work it took to get there.

Stay Strong,

Jeff

5Here’s Lucy Season Two- Another Fantastic Season Is Here!
By Tante Maren
Season One of Here’s Lucy is not even out yet, and Season Two is all ready to order for it’s November 3, 2009 release! This is outstanding news for Lucy fans that these shows will be out quickly, and I hope the film quality is just as good as the quick releases of this great series! Season Two starts out with a family trip out west, and after that, the outstanding guest stars just keep on coming show after show! The firstborn of these guest stars is Patty Andrews, who re-enacts the widely known and esteemed WWII Andrews Sisters singing act with Lucy and daughter Lucie Arnaz- they are just great! There are so a good deal of great performances by Milton Berle, Paul Winchell, Gary Morton, Johnny Carson, Ed McMahon, Jack LaLanne, Liberace, Lawrence Welk, Ann-Margret, Wally Cox, Alan Hale, Wayne Newton, Carol Burnett and a heap of others. Even the fantasti Vivian Vance returns to guest star as Lucy’s friend Vivian Jones. Lucy’s real life 77 year old mother DeDe Ball (she passed away in 1977 at age 84) is seen as the woman in the audience on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. DeDe was in the looking at audience of each single show of I Love Lucy, The Lucy Show and Here’s Lucy. They say you may listen her distinguishable laugh and even listen her talking (DeDe always said UH-OH when her daughter Lucy was in trouble) on the background tracks in Lucy’s shows, but this is the rarest time that you actually get to see Lucy’s mom on a show! This second season is just wondrous with so a great deal of great stars and performances, one of the best being Desi Arnaz Jr. and Ann-Margret singing together and if Season Three comes out just as quickly, it won’t be long before we get to see the most eminent ranked show of Here’s Lucy, which is the primary show of Season Three-Lucy Meets The Burton’s!

5“The “Here’s Lucy” DVD’s Continue!”
By Terry Richard
When MPI Home Video declared early in 2009 that they would release all the seasons of “Here’s Lucy” they were not kidding. Even before “Here’s Lucy-Season 1″ has been freed MPI has declared that the second season’s worth of sequences will be coming out in November. If these boxsets proceed to be freed in this manner (2 sets per year), it means that we fans will have the entire “Here’s Lucy” library of shows by the end of 2011!
The second year of “Here’s Lucy” continued Lucille Ball’s dominance in the national Nielsens. Finishing the year at #6 proved to the audience and critics that “Here’s Lucy’s” success was no fluke: audiences watched the series in droves and the show became a Monday night staple like it is predecessors “I Love Lucy” and “The Lucy Show”. Some fantasti guest stars popped up in the second year including Johnny Carson, Lawrence Welk, Carol Burnett, Ann-Margret, Milton Berle, and even Liberace. Vivian Vance came back for two sequences and her alchemy with Lucy is evident.
This set features 24 splendid shows that are remastered from their basi prints, is 610 minutes long, and the sound is English audio with English subtitles. Among the a great deal of bonus features in this set are the following: new video introductions by Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz Jr., a featurette called “Here’s Lucy On Vacation”, “Let’s Talk To Lucy- a loss consultation with Lucy friend Carol Burnett, Special Footage, Treasures from Lucy’s Vault: a “Here’s Lucy” slideshow, Production Files, and Original CBS and retail promos.

5Here’s Lucy – Season 2 Coming to DVD
By R. M. Telesca
I can’t believe that season 2 of “Here’s Lucy” will be out on November 3, 2009. I have already pre-ordered by copy of this wondrous classic comedy series. Season two of “Here’s Lucy” aired on CBS-TV for the duration of the 1969-70 TV season on Monday night at 8:30 pm. “Here’s Lucy” finished no. 6 in the ratings with a 23.9 rating, up three notches from season one which finished in 9th place. Lucy earned three Golden Globe nominations as Best Actress In A Comedy Series. I recognise that all 24 sequences will be freed with the same loving care as the original 24 episodes. I likewise hope that MPI includes a heap of bonus features as they did with season one. The initial 4 sequences of season two are shot on emplacement and are in truth great. Lucy Runs the Rapids is a true classic. After these sequences we have great sequences with Lucy and Lawrence Welk (Vivian Vance is also in this episode) and is one of the best Here’s Lucy episodes! Other epiosodes include Ann Margret, Carol Burnett (hysterical!), Johnny Carson, Liberace, Patti Andrews and Milton Berle. We likewise have Vivan Vance again in Lucy and Viv Go To Tijuana (pure joy) and a genuinely wondrous epiosde with Lucy and Gale Gordon dressing up as hippies in Lucy At The Drive-In Movie. This series proved that Lucille Ball is and always will be the First Lady of Television and Queen of Comedy. Monday night has never been the same since this series ended in 1974. Lucy is without doubt a true Icon. A+ for the series and A+ to MPI for freeing this series and giving it the acknowledgement it deserves. I can’t wait for the Lucy special “Lucy Calls The President” that will be freed sometime in early 2010. Thank you MPI!
