wonderful
By Tiffany Walker
we necessitated a gate to fit in amongst the kitchen and livingroom which a little larger space than normal. i expended alot of time reserching gates in regards to 2 months and i decisive on this one, and i am so glad i did. it is perfect. it only took me regarding 20 mintues to set it up and get it right. we have it when it comes to 1/2 an inch of the floor so just in case it did slip or something it would not scratch the hardwood floor. it shuts great, opens outstanding and locks great. my 14 month old son loves it to because he may see through it so he knows what is going on in the other room, the gate does shut by itself but i think that is good if you want to keep it open just put a shoe in front of the door and there you go it is open. i love it love it love it, way worth each little penny. i would commend this product to any individual and everyone. it is also not bulky looking and it looks nice when it is up not like most gates. it is pressure mounted so no screws in your wall. and if you have to you may still step over it, low sufficient to if you need to, but yet still high sufficient so shildren cannot get over and because of it being designed the way it is, it is likewise very hard for the little ones to climb. again love it love it love it

GREAT product, unquestionably worth the cash 1.5 years later!

This is a outstanding product and a outstanding place to buy it. We presently have this gate in a 48″ doorway, and our 20-month-old rather rambunctious daughter has yet to break out or tear it down. (Yes, of course, she has tried!) It was comparatively easy to set up (probably more comfortable than most of the baby toys I’ve put together). It is easy to get in and out of, principally because the door swings both ways. I do not peculiarly love that the door is hinged with a spring, however; there have been some close calls with fingers almost getting pinched. The spring also makes it difficult to keep the door open without installing an eye hook in a nearby wall to attach it to with string (or, like us, those baby rings they trade for hanging baby items so that kids can’t choke themselves with it). Still, I’m astonished at the gate’s capacity to withstand a large total of abuse but still maintain top quality function. We chose not to screw it into the wall and only use the sticky pads that lock it in place when you’re setting it up. I wondered if we’d regret that and end up taking it detached to screw it into the wall. It hasn’t been an issue at all. The thing is just ridiculously sturdy. I highly commend this to anybody looking for a gate for a wider doorway that is employed frequently; it’s well worth the money.
Quick update: We now have a 2.5-year-old and a 10-month-old, and the gate is as sturdy–and useful–as ever. My 2.5-year-old can’t get it open, which is great, and my younger one may pull up on it without any fear of it moving. The spring in the hinge is still annoying for pinched fingers, particularly when my 2.5-year-old tries to be “helpful” and shut it for me. Pinched fingers haven’t yet happened, but that’s primarily due to good luck and mom’s watchful eyes. Overall, I still highly commend the gate–I’d buy it again in a heartbeat if I necessitated something for a wide doorway.

High quality, couldn’t get it to completely adjust properly
By B. Wilson
This item appeared to be made very well. It fit the space perfective and the door mechanically closed and latched. The one issue is that the top latch never the right way aligned and locked. Pressure mounted gates require you to tighten the gate in order for the door to line up and appear off before pressure is used (this wasn’t the basi pressure gate I’ve installed). This one did partially lock but the top latch never aligned to to a complete degree lock, so I wasn’t comfortable leaving the gate in place. The item has since been returned to Amazon and I’m not sure whether to undertake another or not. I do prefer the The First Years Hands Free Gate rather but will have to buy extensions in order to use this. I also like the fact that the First Years gate doesn’t mechanically close the door in case I want to leave the area opened (I’ll in all probability modify my tune on this when my daughter is older).
